Northwest Permanente, P.C. is currently seeking a Board Certified or Eligible Locum Pathology Assistant to join or growing medical group.

Qualifications:
  • PA(ASCP) or Exam Eligible Required
  • Prior experience preferred
  • No weekend or night call
  • Additional responsibilities possible depending on experience and training
  • 18 Pathologists, 5 Pathologists' Assistants
  • 60,000 Annual Surgicals
  • 25 Yearly Autopsies
  • No Pathology Residents

The candidate will:

Be a graduate of a NAACLS-certified PA training program and/or PA(ASCP) BOR certified

Perform the macroscopic description and dissection of all surgical specimens ranging from simple to complex cases including pertinent macroscopic information for the staging of complex cancer cases. 

Prepare and submit tissue sections for light microscopy. 

Obtain samples for ancillary studies (flow cytometry, cytogenetics).

Perform frozen sections and assist with intraoperative consults.

Assess renal biopsy specimens for adequacy by evaluation of the presence of glomeruli.

Prepare touch preparations/imprints/squash preparations

Perform postmortem examinations including:

    • External examination
    • In situ organ inspection
    • Evisceration
    • Dissection and dictation or recording of data including organ weights, measurements, presence and quantitation of body fluids, and macroscopic anatomic findings
