Cardiovascular SurgeonOffice: Mt Talbert Medical Ofc
Northwest Permanente Physicians and Surgeons, PC, is currently seeking an outstanding cardiovascular surgeon who sees his/her work not a job but, instead, as a privilege and a calling.
Our Cardiothoracic Surgery program at the Kaiser Northwest Center for Heart and Vascular Care in Clackamas, OR began in Spring of 2009 when we internalized all cardiovascular care previously contracted to a local heart center. Since then, the case volumes have grown steadily to about 950 per year with 500 cardiac, 100 TAVR/MitraClip/TEVAR, and 350 non-cardiac thoracic surgeries. We perform all types of adult cardiac surgeries including VAD, excluding heart and lung transplantation. The program is a fully integrated practice setting in which patients receive all of the cardiovascular care at one facility. Inpatient care for increasingly complex patients is delivered in a purpose-built, state-of-the-art center including a newly-built Hybrid OR. Both inpatient and outpatient practice will emphasize collaboration among cardiovascular, vascular and thoracic surgery, cardiology, anesthesiology, hospital medicine and interventional radiology services.
With our emphasis on the patient-centered multidisciplinary team approach, we have been able to achieve the top 3-star STS quality ratings in CABG for 9 consecutive years and also in for AVR for 5 consecutive years since it was added as a new category by the STS in 2014.
Our new associate will need to be American Board-certified/board-eligible. Experienced surgeons with 3 or more years of experience are desired but not required. Thus, new graduates are also encouraged to apply. He/she will be one of four cardiac surgeons in the department and will need demonstrated superb surgical and patient care skills, compassion for patients and their families, refined communication skills, and a collaborative problem-solving style. In addition to having excellent outcomes in CABG and valve repairs/replacement surgeries, those with additional fellowship training and/or expertise in complex thoracic aortic surgery/TEVAR, VAD/heart failure surgery, ICU care, and/or adult congenital surgery will be given favorable consideration.
This is an excellent opportunity to join one of the premier heart centers in the Northwest with national recognition for an on-going top 3-star STS quality ratings in CABG, AVR, and MVRR categories, as well as in non-cardiac thoracic surgery category of lobectomy for lung cancer.
