US News Rates Portland as Nation’s Sixth Best Place to Live
April 18, 2018
Portland, Northwest Permanente’s home base, enjoys a potent combination of a robust jobs scene, desirability, cost of living, quality of life, and other factors, all of which have added up to a key recognition on the national level — namely from U.S. News and World Report.
The Rose City came in at number 6 in U.S. News’ 2018 Best Places to Live list, rising from number 32 in 2017 — a jump of 26 spots. One area in which Portland received high marks was in desirability. People want to live here!
How was the list created? U.S. News looks at data on the country’s 125 largest metro areas, including cost of living, job market, crime rates, quality of education, and more. The data are then weighted based on the responses from a survey of more than 2,000 people throughout the U.S. to determine what factors they consider most closely when selecting their next place to live.
