We have an opening for a Project Manager 2 who will provide planning, leadership and implementation services for major projects and/or key business processes for the Provider Contracting Department. The Project Manager 2 position will be responsible for managing or coordinating the consulting and analytical support for projects or processes, and is accountable for the quality and outcomes. This position will performs all duties in a manner which promotes Provider Contracting and Relations team concept and reflects the mission and philosophy of Kaiser Permanente.

Northwest Permanente is a self-governed (physician led), multi-specialty group of over 1,500 physicians, surgeons, and clinicians, caring for over 500,000 members in OR and Southwest WA.  We have an opening for a Project Manager 2 who will provide planning, leadership and implementation services for major projects and/or key business processes for the Provider Contracting Department. The Project Manager 2 position will be responsible for managing or coordinating the consulting and analytical support for projects or processes, and is accountable for the quality and outcomes. This position will performs all duties in a manner which promotes Provider Contracting and Relations team concept and reflects the mission and philosophy of Northwest Permanente.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

  • In collaboration with clients, manages/facilitates multi-disciplinary projects, initiatives, and/or committees. These efforts are complex, varied, and carry significant risk/reward and visibility. Serve as program manager (manage multiple projects), project manager (one project) and hands on team member.
  • Develops and proactively maintains contact with key clients, stakeholders and customers to facilitate departmental and project success. 
  • Identifies and aligns staff resources to meet or exceed customer expectations.  Works with operations leaders to identify project deliverables, set service performance targets and report on progress in meeting the targets.  
  • Develop expert knowledge and networking relationships with Health Plan.  Provides service representation and leadership in the development, coordination and problem resolution around implementation of projects as assigned.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as required.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, analytic discipline, or equivalent knowledge and experiences.
  • Three (3) years managing projects in an integrated health care system or other health care setting.
  • Leading people on projects, coaching and developing their skills as needed.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; strong organizational and time-management skills; ability to prioritize work to ensure highest impact changes receive the major focus; task oriented focus; excellent analytical and problem solving skills; ability to develop and gain exceptional interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively with others; ability to work with minimal supervision; ability to build and maintain strong work relationships at all levels of the organization as well as to operate in politically complex situations.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.  Good written and oral communication skills.  Good project management, facilitation, and team building skills.  Proven ability to synthesize complex and diverse information to formulate a recommendation or course of action.
  • Ability to connect with physicians.
  • Strong proficiency in the use of current software, including spreadsheets, process mapping tools, project work plan tools, charts and graphs, and basic Microsoft applications.
  • Able to facilitate teams and major planning events, helping groups work though significant conflicts and politically-charged situations.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Master's Degree in business administration, health care administration or related discipline.  Thorough knowledge of NWP/KPNW Operations, Financial, and Planning processes.
  • Five (5) years of project management and/or managing a department or programs in the health care industry.
