Listen up: NWP psychiatrist on preventing suicide

September 12, 2017

A Northwest Permanente physician discussed suicide and ways to prevent it in a two-hour broadcast recorded live last Sunday on World Suicide Prevention Day.

Psychiatrist Pavan Somusetty, M.D., Assistant Chief of Mental Health, is interviewed among a host of other mental health specialists and musicians on “I’m Listening,” a podcast that features call-ins, stories, music, and plenty of solid advice about suicide prevention. Dr. Somusetty discusses suicide warning signs, how to respond if a loved one is thinking of suicide, situations that may increase someone’s risk, and what can help prevent suicide.

The effort was a collaboration between Kaiser Permanente and Entercom Radio to usher in National Suicide Prevention Week, September 10-16, 2017.
