NW Permanente Physician Offers Advice for Breast Cancer Patients

Katie Deming, MD, a radiation oncologist at the Interstate Radiation Oncology Center, was featured prominently in a WebMD story about self-care for breast cancer patients. Dr. Deming suggested patients try to exercise, even just a little, because it can ease side effects of treatment. She also says that they should not hesitate to pamper themselves, which can boost their self-confidence and make them feel more comfortable. And finally, she encourages them to seek support: “When you’re used to helping everyone else, it can feel strange and even uncomfortable to be the one asking for a hand or a listening ear. But consider it part of your treatment, Deming says.”
